After years of playing live music in a myriad of bars, parties, and town festivals, the guys of Too Tall for Tokyo are going to try something different. Recording technology is getting cheaper all the time so we are going try our hand at recording music and posting it online for our friends.

It is new to us and so our first attempts might be a little rough. So this page will show what songs we are trying, what techniques we are learning, and what mistakes and successes we can share. We would appreciate tips and feedback that will help us along the way, so we will have a comment section in YouTube under each video.

If you are in the Treasure Valley and would like us to play at your BBQ, B-Day, or generic celabration, see the contact information at the bottom of the web page.

godzilla and guitar
Video 0 - "Troubles": We made this before the project. We recorded live with a Behringer U-phoria UMC 1820 and shot video my phone. We did some post editing on the guitar and harmony vocals. Dylan did the audio editing using Reaper and Layne put video together using Adobe Premier. Video 1 - Project Intro: Layne explains what the objective of the DIY Project is and how we got here. Video 2 - "Superstition" Cover ft. Dylan Garrard: This is one involved a lot of trial, error, swearing, and occasional aha moments. Drums are definitely the hardest recording hurdle.
Video 3 - "Nutshell" cover: Mike sings on this one and we tried to make a clean voice track by having him sing into a coat closet full of coats. Video 4 - "Where is My Mind" cover: I think it's getting better. The woos in the background were fun to experiment on. It is clear that the drums and the vocals are our next point of study.
